Sleep: 10pm-7:45 -- it's so quiet and dark here........(VT)
Hot Tea: 8oz Peppermint
Skin brushing/tongue scraping
Hot/cold contrasting shower: The hotel shower was much more reasonable than my home shower!
Juice: 64ounces "Odwalla" OJ: I know, I know, it was terrible! (And it really tasted so un-fresh!) But, I was really in the mood for citrus and I couldn't find any fresh, so this was my best option. The label claims it was only "flash" pasteurized, so it really was the best option considering the circumstances.
Juice: 20 oz "Skin Trip" -- carrots, cucumber, spinach, parsley, 2oz aloe vera & liver-kidney detox tincture
Juice: 20 ounces "Grasshopper" -- pineapple, pear, apple, wheatgrass, mint --super combo!
Juice: 20 ounces "Mixed Veggies" -- kale, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, carrot, beet
Juice: 20 ounces "Greens with Carrot" -- unfortunately this one tasted a little off to me, so I didn't risk it
Fresh Coconut Water: 32oz
Ginger Tea x2
Psyllium/Bentonite Clay/Intestinal Draw Formula: Oh my goodness! I GAGGED my way through only half of the recommended dose. It was so hard to get the clumps out of the IDF before the psyllium started to get to thick to swallow. I actually had to dump the first batch out because I did not make it in time, and used a little less of each the second time, but was so traumatized from the first attempt that my throat would just shut and not let much through.......SOS, help JFers, how do you do it???
Stroll: My sisters dropped me off in downtown Brattleboro, VT before continuing north and me catching a train back to the city. I went to college just outside of Brattleboro, so it was like coming back home after being away for a long time; everything was so familiar but slightly different. They have the BEST health food store there so I plunked myself down, drank juice and read the local paper when sure enough two peeps I went to college with appeared. It was really fun to catch up with them and to hear all the latest campus gossip.
Train Time: I always take a train over the bus when possible because it is such a gentle, soothing ride. I gazed out the window just meditating on things that I never seem to have the space nor time to do in NYC. It was such a luxury to just let me mind wonder without guilt or interruption.
So I have discovered that it is pretty easy to do a very short trip while JFing. I made my juices for Sat fresh that morning, and then bought two 32 oz coconut juices from Pure, which conveniently puts them in spill proof plastic containers, and four 20oz veggie juices from Liquiteria, one of the best juice bars in NYC (they use a Norwalk Press juices and then bottle them for easy access) because of the way in which they juice the veggies. If all goes right and they are kept well refrigerated (I had them in a cooler till we got the hotel and then refrigerated them) they last for 72 hours with all the enzymes in tact. Because I drank too much OJ in the morning ( darn it!) I did not get to my last green juice down till it was too late - it had turned. Michael did think it had, but my taste buds and nose could tell immediately something was off.
It feels great to be back in NYC after a little "breather," literally. I feel rested, healthy (with just a little mucus still) and excited to take on these next few weeks of juicing. During my thinking time on the train, I decided to stop JFing at day 30 no matter how well things are going. As much as I may want to go on, for the sake of my beloved and our upcoming wedding, I need to devote my time and energies towards them. It's the happy compromise that WE all feel good about. And that is the most important thing!
